Legal tech startup GDPR Register appoints ex-Veriff leader as new CEO to lead next stage of growth

In a significant development, GDPR Register is proud to announce the appointment of Krete Paal as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective October 1, 2023. Krete’s career has been defined by her dedication to forging privacy frameworks, overseeing significant funding rounds, and navigating intricate legal and regulatory landscapes. 

In her new role as CEO, Paal will lead the company’s efforts in enhancing data management and privacy protection, including product development and innovation efforts, as they enhance their platform capabilities to better serve client needs. She will also spearhead the company’s next stage of growth as it prepares for a crucial 2024 funding round and expansion into other European markets.

The move to appoint Paal as CEO underscores the company’s unwavering commitment to innovation and excellence in the realm of data compliance. Her extensive background includes a prominent role as the Head of the DPO Office at Veriff and leading the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board’s efforts in implementing privacy-specific laws within law enforcement.

GDPR Register was founded in 2017 by Seppel and Merlin Seeman, Managing Partner at leading Estonian law firm Hedman, where both continue to serve. The legal tech startup emerged from the attorneys’ firsthand experience advising clients on GDPR implementation and compliance needs. With GDPR compliance as the core focus, the state-of-the-art software solution offers features like dynamic data mapping, privacy documentation management, one-click reports, and enhanced data visualization.
